EKON17 (from November 4-6 in Cologne, Germany) will be a fun event this year: lots of nice sessions and workshops, a lovely city (not just the Dom Cathedral), and a great group of speakers.

Since there are so many speakers that are able to speak English, it is interesting for non-German attendees as too, especially the post-conference workshop from Nick Hodges.

I’ll be speaking too (more on that below) and will be there all 3 days (plus the evening before and morning after to aid people with their Delphi related questions).

Among the speakers, these will do their sessions in English:

• Nick Hodges:
  • regular session Dependency Injection and the Spring Framework (the Spring4D framework is great!).
  • regular session Unit Testing with Delphi, DUnit, and DUnitX. (yes it covers the new much more open framework DUnitX by Vincent Parret that is still compatible with DUnit).
  • full day workshop (part 1 and part 2) on Advanced Coding Techniques (covering some topics like Generics, Anonymous Methods, RTTI, Virtual Interfaces, and more of his upcoming book Coding in Delphi, get notification of the book release by showing your support for it).
• Ray Konopka:
  • regular session Advanced RTTI (the compiler can now issue much more RTTI than in the past, and the unit System.RTTI is so much more versatile than the old System.TypInfo unit).
  • regular session Developing iOS Apps in Delphi (you will need a Mac to do this with Delphi, but it is so much worth your while).
  • regular session CodeSite Express vs CodeSite Studio (about one of the great Delphi logging and debugging frameworks CodeSite).
• Marco Cantù:
  • keynote session Keynote: Delphi Multi-Device Strategy (highlights of what is new in Delphi XE5).
  • regular session Using the Delphi Mobile Compiler and Toolchain (covering the new iOS and Android LLVM compilers, debuggers and other tools).
  • regular session Delphi Mobile with DataSnap (in the past, Marco was already a big fan of DataSnap; now you can see a few of his first achievements at Embarcadero).
• Cary Jensen:
  • regular session Understanding LiveBindings (highly recommended, as LiveBindings are both powerful and complex).
  • regular session Introduction into FireDAC (as AnyDAC has become FireDAC, it is great to get some in depth information beyond the FireDAC documentation).
  • regular session Advanced FireDac (if you currently use more advanced features of other DACs, then this session will be great to see the FireDAC side of things).

EKON 17: November 4-6 2013, Cologne, Germany

I can do my sessions in both English and German, so depending on the audience, I will pick one.

My sessions (apart from being in many of the English speaking sessions to help with German/English translation):

• Cross-Plattform-Entwicklung mit Delphi: Android, iOS, Mac und Windows (it will focus more on Android than iOS since Ray will cover iOS in depth).
• Smart Mobile Studio (totally different cross platform approach than Delphi, but very interesting as they choose the Pascal to JavaScript compiler issue using DWScript).

Time and slot permitting, I might give an MVVM session as well. If that is being OKed, I will post here.

Given the speakers, sessions and the past audiences, I’m very excited to be there. You should go too (:
